O.J. Simpson Held on Bail Violation

O.J. Simpson is back in custody pending a bail violation hearing next week in Nevada. The prosecutor filed this complaint (pdf) alleging he left a voicemail for his bondsman asking him to contact a co-defendant, Clarence Stewart, who is not cooperating, and tell him to not to change his story from what he had previously told O.J. O.J.'s voicemail:

"I just want, want C.J. to know that the whole thing all the time he was tellin' me that (bleep), ya know. I hope he was telling me the truth. Don't be trying to change the mother (bleeping) (bleep) now, mother (bleeping) (bleep) holes. I'm tired of this (bleep). Fed up with the mother (bleepers) changing what they told me."

A condition of O.J.'s bond is that he not contact witnesses, victims or co-defendants personally or through his agents.

If Stewart is not cooperating, and he goes to trial with O.J., he can't forced to be a witness or to say anything. So I think at this juncture he has to be viewed only as a co-defendant and not as a victim or witness. Also, O.J.'s message didn't seek to have Stewart lie, but rather, to keep telling the truth. But, the order is pretty clear -- no contact with co-defendants personally or through his agents -- and O.J. agreed to it.

The question: Assuming the Judge finds O.J. violated his bail conditions, will he warn him and continue his bond, or revoke it, which could keep O.J. in jail until the trial?

The criminal charges against O.J., Stewart and others is here (pdf.)O.J.'s lawyer has not responded to media requests for comment yet.

Whether O.J. wants the guy to change his story or stick to it--he sure comes off as an intimidating fellow. He acts as if it's a given that you don't cross the Juice.   It's the same tone one hears from the audio recording from the hotel room incident.  I'm sure it's very intimidating when directed at you.  I thought bailbondmen were tough guys.  Wonder why he ratted on the Juice.
