Pellicano Gets 15 Years in Wiretap Case

Former "private investigator to the stars" Anthony Pellicano today was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison, despite the fact that the Probation Department recommended 5 years. Last month the judge sentenced one of his co-conspirators, lawyer Terry Christianson, to 3 years despite Probation recommending home detention.

    Pellicano's reign of terror included death threats against a journalist and deleting saved computer data that was very precious to her (her life's work composing songs).  Pellicano had the entire Los Angeles Times wrapped around his little finger and he even had a mole in the FBI.

    5 years?  That's a joke.

    15 years isn't nearly enough for what he did to that woman, and to all of his other victims.

    It's also worth pointing out that the LA Times refuses to report its role in his reign of terror.  We can trust journalists to report on everyone else's foibles, but they never want to admit to their own.

    I realize this is a defense-oriented web site but he had his day in court.  No one alleged that his rights were violated in any way. He got a fair trial and now he got a fair sentence.

    He's not a lawyer, it was a complex indictment and case. This indictment was brought after he refused to cooperate with the feds. At the time he said,

    "They did nothing wrong," Pellicano said, referring to his clients and employers. "The government should leave them alone. And me, I'm going to take this punishment like a man. I will not participate in any way, shape or form with this investigation."

    He's due a little respect for that.

    is germane here. That was is choice, for whatever reason, it appears to have been a poor one at that.
