addressed the troops.  The meeting was called off due to bad weather - although the Administration probably sees this as a god send since they probably don't relish the thought of pictures of Obama and Karzai together at this point and time.

Even if you don't like him, it makes a great story to say the president pinned a medal on you.

from Bagram Airbase to Kabul.  Apparently, ground travel is not too safe just yet through the rural areas. Perhaps, it will be after a few more troop surges and bags of money.  Although, according to Mark Sedwill, the senior civilian NATO officer in Afghanistan and former Brit Ambassador to Afghanistan, Kabul is safer for children than London, Glasgow or NYC.  He did not say how safe it was for adults.

From what I hear Kabul is doing very well (5.00 / 1) (#9)

but I don't know that the roads from Bagram to Kabul could ever be trusted, and I'm sort of surprised that anyone seriously thought about the President taking a helo from Bagram to Kabul.  That just has to be pure B.S. that it was ever seriously considered.

Kabul is very safe.  The rest of the country, not so much.

The last place you want to be is driving though.
