My picks for tonight's games:

Marquette +4½ over North Carolina (2 units). North Carolina has looked shaky.

Richmond +10½ over Kansas (2 units). Just a hunch.

Ohio State -6 over Kentucky (3 units). Best team in the tournament. Best low post player in Sullnger. Experienced. Ohio State should win easily over a poorly coached Kentucky team.

Florida State -4 over Va Commonwealth (4 units.) VCU has been on a roll. They are not that good. Down to Earth tonight. Noles win easily.

    Man they didn't play well last night, my last bastion from my home state is Marquette, and I hate cheering for religious schools, but every year, same thing, "Go Marquette".

    Kansas, Kentucky, Marquette, and Virginia.

    still sounds better than "Go, You Golden Eagles!"

    I have read that some competitors' students have a lot of fun with chants about the "Big Birds."

    What a disastrous team name choice, that has been.  Replacing political incorrectness was wise, but why do so with public relations ridiculousness?

    that I'd take the opposite of BTD picks, but it didn't go up for some reason, so no dice...can't say that now!

    But anyway, whether VCU wins or not, it's been a fun run to our first Sweet 16 and this team plays as a unit, with heart and selflessness, so either way, it's good to watch the kind of college hoops I like.  FSU is a better team, but they have to stop this crazy offense to win.  It's easy to contain any of them as individuals, but they're like swarming ants and you have to stop them all at the same time.

    i know, i know, any schools but "big name" schools (BCS) really have no businesses mussing up the tournament with their unworthiness.

    1-3. oh, and VCU, "They are not that good"? hmmmm, i'll take their "not that good", to the elite 8. flora who?

    i do hope you're not betting the rent money on this game, be a shame to have to send you a care package, as you sit out in the cold. :)

    i never say anything good when you get the picks right? probably true. however, it's for your own good. as huge of an ego as you already possess, i wouldn't want to be the cause of you not being able to get through regular width doors. lol

    but getting stomped on by Kansas in the Elite Eight round is a better season outcome than we could have dreamed, so it's all relative...  FSU dominated us in most ways except the score last night, good thing that's the one that counts.  Somehow, though, it's not VCU being "that good" that's mattered, it's a story of how heart and scrappiness pull other teams' games down.  And as much as they dominated us on the boards last night, we would just wait and snatch the ball out of their hands when they weren't looking.  So anyway, talent isn't everything, sometimes it's just fun.  I'll take wins over USC, Georgetown, Purdue and FSU any year and go home happy if it comes to that.

    being the class of this tournament.  They looked a little like a team that had never faced a solid, clampdown defense before.  Congrats to KY for playing a no-choke wall-to-wall outstanding game, including that clutch shooter -- Knight -- who Jordaned the ball through the net for the clincher.

    Otherwise, except for the cheerful news about Duke exiting early, this one looks like the usual powerhouse beasts competing against a couple of semi-regulars (AZ, Butler), plus underdog VCU.

    With but one team left from west of the Rockies (still trying to recall where Butler is headquartered ...), I have no choice but to root for the Wildcats even as I'm not much in the mood to favor anything from that state these days.  But the political is overcome by invoking good guy names of ex coach Lute Olson and the late great heroic UofA physicist James McDonald.

    ...I'm convinced that if Ronnie Lester hadn't hurt his knee 8 minutes into the National Semi-Final against eventual National Champ Louisville in '80, the Hawks would have that game and gone on to win the title and Lute would have stayed at Iowa.  

    However, that would also have meant that my childhood arch-rival, Bobby Hanson, would have a National Championship to go with his NBA ring.
