Joran van der Sloot to Become a Father

Various news outlets in the Netherlands began reporting yesterday that Joran van der Sloot is going to be a father, having impregnated his girlfriend, since identified by Peruvian news as Leydi Figueroa Uceda, during an unsupervised conjugal prison visit. Joran reportedly told his lawyer the pregnancy was not intentional. The AP says:

He could resist extradition to the United States, where is wanted in the Holloway case, if he obtains Peruvian nationality. That would be a possibility if he becomes the father of a Peruvian child or if he marries a Peruvian citizen.

    Reality show? (none / 0) (#1)

I am pretty sure what brought to talk left back in the day was the natallee holloway dissapearance, at the time I really believed that Jordan vandersloot was innocent and that Beth twitty was completely unhinged, since then then I have revised my opinion of vander slots innocence but I still think Beth twitty is completely unhinged.  With all that said I have a feeling that when vandersloot gets out of prison he will be a shoe in for a reality show on TLC which should make Beth's head explode, as that would give him the one thing she always wanted which is fame and fortune.

you have never had a child disappear and without much doubt murdered by a spoiled jet set juvenile delinquent.

... for expressing my personal opinion that Joran Van der Sloot has obviously caused a lot of people a lot of personal distress and grief (including members of his own family), and thus is not someone whose pending fatherhood I'll be celebrating.

....with the world's majority with maybe 5 people descending, maybe.

I remember seeing a special on Peruvian prisons in which the women were allowed to raise kids.  The prison looked like a very normal life except with a fence around it, nothing like American prisons.  Playgrounds, classrooms, a big beautiful park, and no cells.  Then they showed the men's prison which was pretty much one would expect in South America, a hell hole.  I wonder if he won't be moved because of the kid.

I read that Peruvian citizens can't be extradited to America, and two ways to obtain citizenship is either having a child with a Peruvian woman or marrying one.  And while 28 years is long time, it certainly beats the rest of his life which is what will happen if he is extradited here for Holloway.

The real question is who in the F is this woman.  I know they exist, women fascinated with murderers, but to carry his kid.  That just blows my mind, her religion bars her from terminating the pregnancy, but apparently not from having sex with a murderer.

You've already written the life story of a baby who has yet to be born, and who didn't ask for any of this?

i am reacting as a person born of accidental bullsh*t, with 9 marriages between my folks, as a person molested in an abandoned house in the ghetto when i was five, as a person who was face down on the pavement at 12 with a police shotgun on my back, as a person ever amazed at the sociopathy involved in so much child bearing in "modern" times. IMO, these are phucked up careless morons who can't be bothered to consider their idiocy on the future of this poor child who will NEVER know anything but hideous self-hatred.  How could it be ANY different? Mom is obviously a case of horrific dysfunction, do you really think her profile could be any different? Seriously?  This is like a horror movie made absolutely real. Because there is NO possible way this child is anything but tragically inclined.

Sorry, this kind of sh*t strikes a very angry -- scratch that, RAGING -- part of me.  Such is human life.

(Peace, SJ, you know I dig you, and sorry I seem so reactionary on this post, but sometimes...we all are. Hopefully, as the Buddhists say, I'm on the way.)

I am far from a perfect mother.  But I can certainly do better than what you survived and so whenever I hear a story like yours I wish I could go back and take that child and make him/her safe and loved.  I hope this doesn't sound patronizing.  You are not your parents and the child you are referring to also has a chance to escape the self loathing as I hope you are doing.  I know from experience it is hard to separate yourself from your upbringing and I know the rage.  I can tell you it does go away. It is not even a matter of learning to control it because it really can and will melt away at some point.

and then will grow up and learn about "it's" parents. There is no way you can go in and save this child or "correct" it's background. No more than you correct a past through your words. And yes, you do sound patronizing. To me at least . . . .
