Obama: It's All Up to You, Who Do You Trust More?

President Obama in Virginia yesterday: It's all up to you.

“It’s up to you. You’ve got the power,” Obama said. “That’s how democracy’s supposed to be.”

Obama in New Hampshire today:

"Part of this election is not about policy. It's also about who do you trust."

And, have faith in me and we'll win.

"I know I look a little bit older, but I've got a lot of fight left in me. I am not ready to give up on the fight," Mr. Obama shouted in a hoarse voice to a crowd of about 14,000 in Concord. "If you're willing to work with me... if you're willing to turn out for me, we'll win New Hampshire, we'll win this election."

In the movie (New Year's Eve), everyone puts aside their past disappointments, sees the light and takes the leap of faith towards happiness. (Even Katherine Heigel comes around at 1:56 in the second clip.)

Life is not a romantic movie, but the point is the same: Dwell on past broken promises and disappointment and you lose. Having trust and faith in Obama isn't just about what he promises to do. It's also (and more importantly) about what we know he will not do, with respect to abortion, Medicare, Social Security, and appointment of Supreme Court Justices, and immigration.

Democrats can't take anything for granted. We still need a little help from our friends. You have to vote.

Here's Joe Cocker and Have a Little Faith in Me.

From the Seacoast Online newspaper editorial (New Hampshire and Maine papers): Obama Has Earned Our Trust and Support:

In the end, it comes down to trust. We trust President Obama to look out for the health, safety and well-being of all Americans. Unlike his opponent, he hasn't written off nearly half of our fellow citizens through a cynical calculation that they are dependents and moochers and therefore not his constituency. Your ears did not deceive you.

....We trust President Obama to fight for the middle class, to continue growing jobs and educational opportunities. We trust he will work to continue increasing our energy independence while protecting the environment for future generations. We trust him to protect Medicare and Social Security and to build a health care system that expands coverage while reducing overall costs. We trust him to protect women's health choices and to appoint rational, common-sense justices to the Supreme Court. We trust his diplomatic approach to foreign policy. We trust in President Obama's integrity, decency and intelligence.

On Nov. 6, we urge our readers to vote for President Barack Obama.

advocating voting for a specific third party candidate. It's against our commenting rules to advocate voting for a third party candidate. And suggesting that because one is in a safely blue state, it's okay not to vote for the Democrat, is just as bad. If enough people believed that in safe states, we'd end up with Romney.

You are free to express those views on other sites, but not here. Especially with 3 days until the election.

Plus, we need the popular vote (5.00 / 1) (#6)

to try to stem the claims of illegetimacy that the GOP will launch if Gov. Romney wins the popular vote.  A vote in a blue state is important for the popular vote even if it doesn't impact the electoral vote outcome in that state.

didn't "advocate" for any specific third party candidate, but I guess in your mind, revealing who I might end up voting for constitutes "advocacy."  Clearly, we are operating with two different understandings of what "advocacy" means.

In my dictionary, "advocating" is urging others to do something - which I did not - I didn't even come close; if I advocated for anything, it was that Romney winning would be the absolutely wrong thing to happen.

I was, and have been, crystal clear for weeks - that electing Romney would be the wrong result and I am perplexed how you could possibly have missed that.

I thought you would welcome comments reinforcing how bad it would be to elect Romney; maybe I should do as you suggest and take that opinion elsewhere.

    Lets Help Obama Win Florida (5.00 / 1) (#9)
by john horse on Mon Nov 05, 2012 at 06:49:56 PM EST
I would like to make a suggestion to my fellow Obama supporters in Florida.  This state is one of the few tossup states.  So, if you have the time tomorrow, VOLUNTEER.  A marginal increase in the vote will win the state for Obama and, needless to say, this election is over if Obama wins Flforida.

But if you don't have the time to volunteer, get out and VOTE and urge your friends to VOTE.  This is one of the few states where that old cliche is true - EVERY VOTE COUNTS.

    That's good...that's great. (none / 0) (#2)

that shows Obama way up on the 'who do you trust more?' question.

Ad no wonder....the way Mitt contorts himself.
