Adam Lanza's Father Accepts Remains

Adam Lanza's remains were claimed by his father, Peter Lanza. A family spokesman says a private service was held over the weekend. There are no details as to where the remains were placed.

On December 20, 2012, Nancy Lanza's family in New Hampshire held a small service for her at her brother's home in Kingston, N.H. Kingston Police Chief Donald Briggs said she was cremated and would be buried at a later date.

Her obituary appeared in the Eagle Tribune and Union Leader on December 23. The family intends a public memorial for her next year. [More...]

Peter Lanza lives in Stamford, CT, which is on the Long Island Sound. Maybe he was cremated, and the family will hold the ashes until Spring, and then dispose of them in the Sound. It's fairly common (and legal, three miles out). Here's one company that provides the service.

On a related note, Stamford elementary schools will add security guards when school begins Jan. 3. Previously, there were guards only at the middle schools and high schools. None of the guards will be armed.

today, we got a Christmas card from The Smith's...I cringed, of course.

That incorrect usage always prompts me to ask, "the Smith's what?"  And which one of the Smiths? - there were four people in the picture.

    Argh.
