Ex-Congressman Mel Reynolds Arrested in Zimbabwe

Ex-Congressman Mel Reynolds, age 62, has been arrested in Zimbabwe on charges of possessing p*rn and an immigration offense. According to the state newspaper, he had taken several women to his hotel room where he took photos and videos. He also has $24,500 in unpaid hotel bills.

Reynolds had gained prominence in Zimbabwe for being involved in attracting investment for the $145 million construction of a Hilton Hotel and office complex in Harare, reported The Herald. Construction is expected to begin in April and be finished in last 2016, said the newspaper.

He faces up to two years in jail on p*rn charge. In 1995, he went to prison in the U.S. after being convicted of having sex with a 16 year old campaign worker. While imprisoned, he was convicted of bank fraud. President Clinton commuted his bank fraud sentence and he was released in 2001.

Lurid headlines aside, it sounds like Reynolds got too arrogant and on the wrong side of somebody with some power, after complaints from the hotel, and possibly his aides and the women he hired. The immigration offense is that he overstayed his visa. The p*rn consists of photos and videos of him and the women.

According to his former aide identified as Sunny, Reynolds was in possession of pornographic material he shot on different occasions while in the company of a model (name supplied) and several girls in his hotel rooms.

"His travel documents were not up to date and he used to bring beautiful women at different times. He employed five of us including a personal assistant and a driver. "He currently has unpaid hotel bills of more than US$24 500 accrued at two local hotels," he said.

Another closely placed source said Reynolds shot more than 100 pornographic videos and a further 2 000 nude pictures while he was in the company of at least 10 women including famous models.

The p*rn sounds like it was for his own amusement -- who would buy pictures or videos of a 62 year old male having sex? As for the immigration offense,

Reynolds entered Zimbabwe via Plumtree Border Post on November 13, where he was given a 14 day visa. The visa was later renewed and expired again on December 10 and he has been in the country illegally all along.

Reynolds said he has been to Zimbabwe 17 times. As he was being arrested, Reynolds said "he was not expecting the treatment after bringing several investors in the country."

based on the first news story, but let's just say that there can be a strain of "entitled" that runs through the politician/celebrity personality.

...because of moral/ethical reasons, it is forbidden because it attracts spammers.  I am guessing p0rn is one of those words that brings the vultures around.

Many workplaces have firewalls, or something, that block certain websites. The word "p*rn," w/o the "*", can cause websites to be blocked.

He stopped paying off whoever he was paying off to do what he was doing. Things can get sticky when the money faucet gets turned off.

If the third world corruption and dangers could be ended billions would be invested in Africa, but right now its a scary place.
