Why would a bail jumper get bail?

I have an idea for a future episode: Dog gets collared, Dog jumps bail, Dog gets collared, Dog jumps bail, Dog tracks himself down, collars himself and collects the reward.

Bottom line...He broke the law and the same one he chases people for in his show. How ironic. He was given the chance to just hand the guy over but he wouldn't have made his money then, would he? He shouldv'e returned to Mexico to have HIS day in court, well now it's out of his hands because NO ONE is above the law not even the Dog.

I have read some of the comments on here about dog being a bad person and all and THOSE PEOPLE MAKE ME SICK! Sure, dog broke the law, but guess what? that sicko he caught could be breaking 8 yr old girls' hymens right now!! Honestly. Its basicly part of Dogs job. Put urself in the criminals shoes. The criminal doesnt care if a girl is scarred for life. He doesnt care that he was kidnapped illegally! He just wants out of jail.

I agree the hair is bad but I do not feel he should be sent to Mexico! Dog is a very positive person. Someone you want your children to see. I may not agree with everything that he does but that is the good thing about living in America. Leave the dog and his family alone. Let them find a real crimal to send to back to Mexico. The real question is if the Dog was not so famous would Mexico want him so bad?

You all keep talking about the "laws" that he has broken and he is not entitled to break the laws to better the majority of the population as a whole. Well, it just so happens that the "government" that makes laws breaks them every single day. Without people like bounty hunters, our laws would not be enforced to better the population and the streets and communities you so love would be ALOT worse off. You all should be very very thankful for individuals that step outside of the "law" and capture these worthless individuals.

This is a huge misuse of the law and of the Justice System! Dog did the job that no one else had the guts or the nerve to do, and I thank him for it! Dog Chapman and his family/crew make it safer for us all out here, since one cannot always rely on the LAW...and a lot of the Police Force have their hands tied when it comes to catching these criminals! We need more like Dog Chapman! God Bless You Dog! Don't let this deter you from doing what you KNOW is right! Thank you for taking the step and getting this creep and others like him off the streets and behind bars where they belong!

I am so upset about what has happened to "Dog"! He is really an American Hero. He, Beth & his entire team deserve nothing less than constant praise. I am an avid fan and watch their show on A & E. I think the main problem is due to the fact that Dog was able to find Andrew Luster when the police couldn't!! THAT'S WHY HE'S DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! He can't help the fact that he's better at things like that than they are!! They should NOT be jailed and this just enrages me!!! We love you Dog!!!

Nobody said the US was perfect otherwise we wouldn't have so many other messed up things. However, when someone does our countries job and removes a dangerous person off the streets..they should be treated a hell of a lot better than this. It's freakin Mexico land of the theives themselves. Just goes to show when people sit around with nothin to do they mess up things for everyone else. The dog needs to be cut loose so he can chase down the dirty cats!

angry, get a grip, and your facts straight: dog is NOT a member of any official law enforcement agency. he has no powers of arrest. he is a vigilante, pure and simple. he does it for money, not justice. he answers to no one, is accountable to no one and takes the law into his own hands, innocent parties be damned. he's also apparently not very bright: he went to a foreign country, broke their laws and now cries "foul" because they came and arrested him. the gov't of mexico asked the gov't of the united states to do that which we ask them to do all the time, extradite someone charged with a crime in their country, to stand trial in their courts. what's the problem? or, is it only ok if it's the U.S. doing the asking? sorry, this guy hardly qualifies as a "hero" in my book. the true heroes are the ones who get the job done the right way, by following the laws, and not lowering themselves to the same level as the scum they go after. i am constantly amazed at how quickly some will gladly dispense with following the law, when it suits their purpose. not surprised mind you, just amazed.

I mean if he took a guy in mexico for taking a candy bar then yeah that would be something to talk about..

For many years I made a very good living tracking down "bad guys". The only difference between what I did and what Dog does is that I was hired by other "Bad Guys". What I was doing is considered highly illegal here in the U.S.A. The people I captured had committed crimes against the criminals who hired me to bring them in. Had I been caught by the cops, how many of you would have convicted me if you were sitting on my jury? I am sure that your thoughts would have been along the lines of..."Well, he did capture known, violent criminals and get them off the streets... but still he violated many laws to achieve his goals. Lock him away!" Sorry folks, your double standards are what make this country seem so weak. Dog Chapman as a hero??? He is in it for the money just like I was. He is no hero. He is just a lucky guy getting paid and getting famous for doing a job that is both fun and adventurous. I DO NOT however feel that the U.S. should turn him over to Mexico. He should have received the $3,000,000 bounty for the Luster capture and he should have appeared in court on the charges in Mexico since he is such a strong believer in law and order. Mexico however empowers it's people to violate U.S. customs laws on a daily basis. They allow U.S. citizens to be robbed, raped, kidnapped and murdered by Mexicans both in Mexico and on American soil without repercussions, refusing to seriously assist in bringing these criminals to justice. However, when an American bounty-hunter takes down a lowlife like Andrew Luster now all of a sudden they want the laws followed to the letter? I say let's send our politicians to Mexico for a little vacation, at tax-payer expense of course, and build that damned wall before they try to come back!

Heir to Max factor, huh? Lots of money there. I read on the net that it is possible that the max factor family is trying to get revenge. If that is true then I will never buy another max factor product again (The products suck anyways, I rarely buy them). If the dog did break the law then why wait until they are famous before making an arrest. Three years, come on, that is a long time. I agree with one post, Dog should have read the Mexican laws before he made the arrest, but I also think that this is absurded. He does so much for the good of the american people (Illegal or not, and by the way does the illegal mexicans have to do with this?). I am wondering why after three years that they finally decided to come after him, Does he enough money now, mmmm? Why did the Mexican gov want to protect Luster, money? I think there is more to it than meets the eye, but only because of the lenght of time. My prays do go out the the Chapman family. I hope all will be well. God Bless the Chapmans!

kenneth miller - the U.S. has no power to pardon in other countries. is the mexican gov't corrupt? you betcha it is! has been since, well................forever. and you know what? we in the U.S. like it that way. if we didn't, we'd have done something about it a long time ago. their corruption serves our purposes, and always has. so let's just dry those tears, and thank goodness for those cheap laborers they happily send our way. if we thought mexico was really a bad actor, why george bush would have gone to congress and demanded authorization to attack them, and turn it into a democracy, just like he's done in iraq. oh, wait, he hasn't. oops! dog's a criminal, not a hero. wow, a lot of you have a weird definition of a hero, no wonder we're so screwed up as a society. i hope mr. chapman gets a fair trial, under mexican law, and i assume jeralyn will be representing him, since he's a bud of hers. :)

Okay, tell me it is coincidental that the US Government would provide this kind of help and cooperation for Dog's arrest and then 2 days later you here that Mexican Drug King Pin Arellano Felix is extradited to the US to stand trial. Dog is a piece in a puzzle and our Government should be ashamed.

Here is the latest update on the Dog situation from Honolulu. Dog, Leland and Tim were all released on Friday night on bail, as the judge concluded they are not flight risks. While out on bail, they will be required to remain in the state and wear electronic monitoring devices until they return to court for extradition hearings to face trial in Mexico. No date has been set for those hearings. Hear Dog and Beth tell the full story in their own words on Tuesday 9/19 at 10PM/ET exclusively on A&E's original presentation - DOG: THE FAMILY SPEAKS. The special features post-release interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from the trying ordeal. Additionally, tune in to NBC's Today Show 9/18 on Monday morning to see Dog and Beth interviewed live by Matt Lauer.

Ok. He broke the law. But, This is Mexico. They even commit fraud when is time to elect a President. If you tell me that he broke the law here in the states, then fine, arrest him. But this is Mexico. Everybody in that country is corrupted. They hate the US. If Dog would've ask for permission to arrest this man it would've been denied. I'm glad he did what he did. Now Adrew Luster is in jail and the families of his victims can sleep better and have better live. Thanks to Dog, Tim and Leland, not the US Goverment.

This is the most corrupt thing Ive heard of lately! Mexican Law is a damn joke anyway, and the fact that the U.S. government would actually let this happen is appalling!!!! The fact that the Hawaiian U.S. Marshalls would treat this family this way is insane. The Chapman family single handedly has made Hawaii a better place out of the kindness of their hearts. If this is how people get rewarded for doing good things and leading charitable lives then whats the point!!

Don't begrudge him because he made an arrest on a sicko wealthy man that put him in the limelight..he deserves it. God bless the Chapmans!!!

Dog, Tim, and Leland should not face charges for takeing a bad person off the street. The Mexican Government is nothing but trash sad to say they hide cop killer's, rapes, murders and any other kind of bad people but they come after three guys who have done nothing wrong but take a sick guy off the street how wrong is that. Some one from the US Government must be getting paid to make this happen and it's wrong. The US Government better step and use there brain's if they have one-and do something about this. To Beth in god we trust Dog, Tim, and Lealand will be freed, GOD BLESS YOU CHAPMAN FAMILY.

You know, what the Chapman family does, not only helps the law enforcement of the U.S., but they take the time to treat the people they apprehend with respect and compassion. The Chapman's make a difference with alot of the people they are speaking to. Not only the schools and functions they speak to, but the people they apprehend. Alot of these people feel hopeless and alone. The Chapman family gives hope, love, faith, and compassion and should be recognized for each individual they touch and help. I admire them greatly even though I have never been honored enough to meet them. They make a difference! Do not stop praying and thinking positive thoughts for this family of caring and loving individuals that truely care about the world!

If the US government allows this to happen, I loose all faith in it. I wouldn't say "Dog is a hero" but I would say this man did the job that the US government couldn't do. Mexico made their statement by having him arrested once, let it go already. I say great job to Dog and his crew! Keep up the great work you are doing for the community! My prayers are with Dog and his family.

I just want to say a couple of things to cpinva and sailor, you both need to get YOUR facts straight before saying one word. Dog is a registered bounty hunter in the states of Hawaii, Colorado and he has an office here in Minnesota as well. He did something that obviously the court s and the system did not feel they wanted to have anything to do with by making sure the rapist was put behind bars where he deserves to be in the first place. Have either one of you spent time behind bars yourselves? Have you had to deal wit hthe system yourselves? It is time that someone goes in and cleans house in the sytem and get some real people who know what justice is supposed to be and if a person flees to another country to avoid prosecution for the crime they did here then the penalty will be even harsher and no matter what you WILL be found and brough back to face trial. The US government needs to start refusing to extradite people since Mexico does that same damn thing on a regular basis and allows criminals to hide in their country and also supports the production of these drug lords to where 90% of illegal drugs are coming from. It is time to tell this new mexican president to start arresting the drug lords in his own damn country instead of wasting time with this petty case. Enough Said

all you people dogging the dog must be criminals yourselves. this man spends his own money to give these people second chances, and you don't think they should go after them when they blow it and run? these people are wonderful. I think it is sickening to think that they are being punished for taking a dangerous person off the treats. they give people second chances and save a lot of lives. how can we put them away and allow scum to run free? wake up people. god bless dog and his crew

Wow, the intelligence and spelling ability in this forum is amazing. I like Dog. I wouldn't worry too much folks. He will likely get off because he is a celebrity. Which, by the way, is why he was tracked down in the first place. Mexico, the land of the incorruptible justice system, wants some money out of the deal. Why do you think they allow rich criminals to come and live incognito?

Dog can't carry a gun he is a convicted FELON! He knew the risk when he broke Mexican law. He has rights in the USA as a Bail Bondsmans Agent. Gordon Liddy did the same thing but did it in a country that had no extradition treaty with the US. Sorry about ya luck Dog!

The real reason Mexico issued a warrant was Dog's failure to "grease" the right palms in Mexico. I entire world knows how corrupt the Mexican Police and the Mexican Government are. If the U.S. Government allows Dog's extradiction to Mexico, the backlash will be bad.

This is stupid the U.S has all that money to go have war with other countries. Instead of paying the police to catch that scum bag. Dog is the brave one that went to catch that scum bag and after Dog caught that scum bag Dog gets arrested by U.S? It was like a setup or something even though it isn't.

I've read through many of these posts and noticed a few of you with the
    but he broke the law...
broken record. Well, forgive me for remembering things but the Dog (who IS a model of ciminal reform himself) has been very tight lipped about the original apprehension/arrest of Lester and his subsequent jail time in Mexico. However, on several occasions he has let it slip that he had contacted the Puerto Villarta authorities prior to arrival and worked WITH them to apprehend lester. He has also let is slip that there were Mexican authorities on site during the apprehension of Lester... so the question really is... if Bounty Hunting is illegal in Mexico... why did the Mexican authorities ASSIST with locating and apprehending Lester? Are not the Mexican authorities the first defense against criminal activity? So... if the Mexican government is going to pick and chose which laws THEY want to abide by and when... why should we work to uphold their laws??? This is a travesty.... a high profile drug kingpin is extradited over the weekend to the U.S. and all of a sudden they want Dog Chapman back? Sorry folks, I don't have the faith the U.S. Govt that Dog does... and he better watch his back on this one. Rotagulus

I try to never get too riled up in the events that are happening in the news, as I believe what we see and hear in our media all has some underlying point to it. Conspiracy theorist, maybe. Anyway, one of the more loved and respected people in America, famous for facilitating the arrest of a brutal rapist, has been arrested by our own U.S. Government and is currently awaiting possible extradition to Mexico. Do you think those in charge who allowed this to happen expected a little uproar? A little fury. I mean, both the U.S. and Mexico ignore each others laws and requests on a regular basis, so why then is the Dog fair game? I don't know all the reasons admittedly as I try not to follow U.S. politics too closely, but when something disturbing like allowing Dog's arrest is happening it is certain that you aren't paying much attention to the other things the Government is up to. My other thought is this, how does the events of Dog's arrest make the majority of people feel? It is just a reminder that the U.S. Government is truly the one in control no matter who you are, and no matter what you do (for example bringing a brutal rapist to trial). Vigilantes are not exempt from U.S. law no matter how much good they have done. I would guess that the Dog has around 10 million fans in the U.S. , and if the cries of that many people for sanity in protecting a hero are totally ignored, then the point is kind of clear. Be a good citizen or else.

Let me get this straight. 1. Dog breaks a Mexican law and nobody sees why America should extradite him back? 2. Luster breaks an American law, but everybody would agree that Mexico should extradite him back. Why should extradition be different because you agree or disagree with the law enforced? If the U.S. government rejected the Mexican request to extradite a 100% guilty offender, what do you think will happen next time an American criminal jumps ship to Mexico? Think we'll ever see him returned. It's called international diplomacy and such hyprocrisy is the reason we're hated the world over.

I read that the people who have issues with Dog most all say the same that he does it for the money. Well then answer me this what do police officers do it for??? Not trying to bash police officers but come on now you people think they work for free do what they do out of the goodness of their heart??? They do it for the same reason Dog and his crew do it for because they like it because they can help people and because they make money doing it. The Chapman family is in my prayers I hope that it all works out for them in the end.

This whole thing makes me sick! That man they arrested in Mexico was a SICKO! He was not just breaking the law...he was breaking lives! Dog and his team went in and took care of a situation that made not only the people in the United States safe but those in Mexico as well! They then arrest him for that? Tell me how fabulous the laws are in Mexico! They have a law against bounty hunting but they have no problems paying off their officials do they! I am praying this goes well for the Chapmans! They not only get the bad guys but they treat them with the utmost respect afterward! They try to make a difference and help. So in turn we arrest them? When did all the crimminals get all the rights and the good people fall to the way side. What a terrible shame the RAPIST was arrested! Boo Hoo Cry me a river!! His "rights' MIGHT have stepped on. What about the rights of the women he raped?????? He should have NO rights! Thank God for people who do the right thing even though they might be punished for it. If our government sends any of these good Americans to Mexico to stand trial for something as STUPID as this....I will be voting all my reps OUT and voting IN some new people who have the balls to stand up for what is RIGHT no matter what the cost!!!!!!!!! WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!! Hang in there! We will all support you!

An extradition for a minor misdemeanor... yeah right. Who knows which politician in the Dept of Justice just made a deal to further his career or line his pockets. Do you have any idea how much that entire operation to arrest, prosecute, jail, and possible extradite Dog cost? What a crock. About the equivalent of me speeding in my car to stop a kidnapping and then having to face a panel of judges that cost 2 million dollars a day to issue me a speeding ticket. Our government doesn't care about us, the People... they are here for themselves and the big businesses that make them wealthy. In essence, they are whores to money. The only time the government will ever listen to its People is when the People are at the point of rebellion. Then they listen because they know they are in mortal danger from the fed up masses. Why would we be fed up?.... zero morals in government, zero GOD in government, lack of trust in government, lack of say in government, taxes, war policies, gas prices, outsourcing, government raping its people (where is my social security that I currently pay going to be when I retire and can't work... what do you mean congress doesn't pay into social security!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - no wonder it they don't fix it... it belongs to the people they don't care about, how did I lose my job to an overseas worker that gets paid $4 an hour when my company is a multi-billion dollar company????, how did you let those gas companies make a record profit while we struggled and nothing happened to them). Here's a bill the People could try to get passed (never would though, even if EVERY American household voted for it).... Never let any government worker, politician, judge, or other person of significant power make more than $85K in a single year. No exceptions, ever. And any assets that were held outside their duties would be scrutinized constantly so that they could pass no bills to further their financial gains. Could you imagine a congressman or president that had no oil companies, or large business connections and said they'd work for the equivalent of any ordinary middle class salaried job because they believed in what they were going to do for our country and money wasn't their driving force. Would you believe in them? Do you think for a second they'd be the kind of person that would pass a bill that says your job can sold to any foreign country that is the lowest bidder? Or put up with large corporations that decide that they have mismanaged their money so their employee's pensions will not be paid? Or that Dog the Bounty Hunter should be persecuted for another country's minor misdemeanor and put his life in jeopardy for it all while keeping in mind he just took a SERIAL RAPIST off the streets? Mexico should be thanking him as well, did you not hear that the Max Factor Rapist had date rape drugs and video cameras with him in Mexico. Not to mention a payback list of 29 names. Mexican's should be grateful to be rid of such an atrocity from their country and to know Dog in most likelihood, prevented the rape of its Mexican daughters. I know many of you will disagree with some of the things I've said but I am convinced we are not an amoral country, rather our leaders will sell us out for pennies on the dollar! The people of this great country are beginning to realize that we no longer have a represented voice in government and that our ideals and moral standings can be sold at any time.

cpinva, If Andrew Lustre's high-dollar lawyers find some technicality to get him released based on Dog's "illegal"apprehension, here's a thought for you. The next woman that Lustre drugs, rapes, and maybe murders will be your mom, wife, daughter or such. Since this government won't do anything about people like Lustre hiding out under Fox's protection in Mexico it takes people like Dog Chapman to get justice for the women in this country that people like Lustre have victimized. So, rant on about Chapman's lack of authority, vigilanteeism, and all of your other drivel. But, when someone like Lustre, if not him, rapes and brutilizes your own mom, don't call Dog. He can't make an "illegal" arrest in Mexico. You idiot.

I cannot believe that the United States of America would send the U.S. Marshalls to pick up Dog,Tim and Leland Chapman for going to Mexico to get one of our most hidious criminals, Andrew Luster, back to justice in America to begin his imprisonment. Now Mexico, conveniently 3 years later just as time is running out on the Mexican paperwork, wants them all back? The trouble is, we may be sending them BACK???? That's absolutely not the America I live and believe in. We have to do everything we can to help them. If Condoleezza Rice does get the job of handing the decision as to whether America sends them back or not has a brain in her head, she should take 2 seconds to sign the forms that let them off. These men need to be honored, not paraded around in a Federal Prison like the criminals. That's so wrong, it's pathetic. As I see it, we're really in trouble as a country if our officials can do things like that to high-profile "law" men. People like Dog are protecting the rest of us who are unable to do their job. Gog Bless ALL of THEM!!! Please, listen, we live in America, don't we??? We need to protect Duane "Dog", Tim and Leland NOW!!!!! Please get online and email everyone you can, your Senators, U.S. Marshalls, The President, Condoleezza Rice, whoever you can think of. It can and will help if we all stand together. They deserve our help!!

I admire "Dog" for the work he does, the service he provides and the risk he puts himself, family and other in to make his part of the world a safer place. People who break the law need to be brought to justice. With that said, Dog Chapman should return to Mexico to face their charges against him just as Luster was returned to the U.S. to serve his conviction. Dog preaches "law and order". It goes both ways. Also, the U.S. should concentrate on the Mexican lawbreakers living in the United States and return the illegals sucking our country dry. But justice is blind, deaf and often times dumb. My prayers are for Dog, that he continues to pursue justice and live a long and healthy life. I pray for his family and their struggle at this time.

The CRIME here was that our judicial system let a man like Andrew Luster out on bail in the first place! How can a millionaire accused of 87 counts of rape NOT be considered a flight risk?? I will concede the Dog, Leland, and Tim did break a Mexican law, but considering the flagrant corruption of the Mexican judicial system and the documented human rights violations that occur in the Mexican penal/ judicial system I cannot stand by my countries decision to sign an extradition warrant. Maybe if Mexico would clean up the problems in THEIR country then maybe people like Andrew Luster wouldn't be hanging out down there surfing when they should be sitting in an American prison! Mexico NEVER would have returned Luster...he had to much money to bribe his way into a nice comfy lifestyle in Puerto Vallarta - while his victims suffer the life long scars of his sociopathic rape and torture.

I think it is a horrible injustice that the USA is allowing Dog and his family to be treated like common criminals. They are all HEROS in my eyes for getting such trash off the streets. This rapist was allowed bond with all the money he had backing him did the courts not know that he would run? Funny how Mexico does not expedite across the borders but they want the US to. Give them back the same message, WE the USA dont do that either. Leave this man and his family ALONE all he did was get a DIRT BAG off the streets. I think the family should be given a parade and an AWARD for doing what they did. We love you DOG, BETH,LELAND,TIM AND THE WHOLE CHAPMAN FAMILY my thoughts are with you and hope the U.S. will do the right thing and tell Mexico to go take a flying leap straight to #&!!. You know...I think it is completely appropriate that Dog was arrested and will face his charges. The bottomline is he broke a law and then walked away from the responsibility of facing the consequences. To me this makes him a hypocrit regardless if he captured Luster or not. If he truly wanted to be a hero he would set the proper example which is to be complety responsible for your actions.

The sad truth of the matter is that the Chapmans did what the US Marshalls and FBI could not. I think these men are the kind of heroes this country needs more of. They put the filth and scum of this country where they belong ... behind bars. I would imagine that a lot of the negative comments on here are from some of those people. They spent the hours, money, and investigative work to put a sadistic, perverted rapist behind bars. I applaud them for doing their own "Homeland Security". I am just as concerned about the terrorists who may live in my neighborhood, or country as I am about those infiltrating from other countries. Let the FBI and the Marshalls pursue those, and free the Chapmans to continue their pursuit and detainment of the lowlifes and criminals in this country!! Free the Dog!

IN 2003 DOG captured the mega-rich Max Factor cosmetics heir Andrew Luster in Mexico for three rapes he committed in the U.S. No doubt, Mr.(Mad Max)Luster used his "Pull" to bribe the Mexican Politicians with big bucks in order to inflict revenge on his captors. If the paid-off Mexico Politicians can get to DOG so easily, then surely the U.S. Politicians could have extradited Luster with the help of the FBI & CIA and Mexico's cooperation. Luster probably paid-off some corrupt Mexican and/or US politicians off . Let's face it: 'Everybody has their price' and most people in positions of power (especially in Mexico) are corrupt! If there wasn't alot of bribe money involved do you really think the lazy politicians would be motivated to take any action at all? If incarcerated in Mexico, hopefully DOG has enough money to bribe his way to freedom, but he has to compete against Luster's fortune and Luster can probably out-bid him. I wish there were a million more people like DOG to unleash on the US to track down every last criminal meth and ice addict and put them out of society's misery. ! ! ! FREEDOM FOR DOG ! ! !

The bad part is that his pompus loud mouth wife "Beth" cant be sent back and locked up with him! Beth is a liar and a thief who not only stole money from our company but many others who I have worked with.
