Brett Favre returns to Lambeau today. The game is garnering a bit of attention. The Vikings lost a game they should have won last week. They beat the Pack in Minnesota earlier in the season. I think they are the better team. I like Favres (+3).

Philly and New York play a double header today. The Giants meet the Eagles at 1. And the Yankees play the Phillies tonight. In the football game, I like the Giants (-1). More . . .

The J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! host the Wildcats (Miami) in New Jersey. Jets should win. I think they won't. I 'll take the Fish (+3.5).

The undefeated Broncos can't get no respect. Undefeated and they are still dogs. This time to Baltimore. I do not respect them either. I'll take the Ravens (-3.5).

In the Paper Bag Over Your Head Bowl, Detroit (1-5), favored in a game for the first time in my lifetime, meets the Rams (0-7). Somebody has to win. I think it will be the Rams (+4).

talk any smack (my brother-in-law, who lives in Boulder, tried to bait me, but I wasn't biting), but I had a feeling, especially when Jarrett Johnson put Orton on his a$$ on the first play from scrimmage, that we were going to be seeing the "real" Ravens: the ones with the suffocating defense and the hot running game.
Flacco was there when we needed him to be - that strike to Mason in the end zone was just sick!
I just have to laugh, sometimes, at the chuckleheads who called the game, and who kept trying to equate the two defenses; "hello! have you looked at the score? 30-7 does not mean the two defenses were equally strong!"

being railroaded by the big bad authorities just irks me. And then they throw in that he's some brilliant film producer and I'm supposed to feel extra sorry for him. The guy has so much money that if he gets bail I predict he will just mosey on over to some country that the US can't extradite him from - once again - and that will be that.

42,000 runners this year. All those people will be running by me soon, YIKES! Luckily, I'm off the main route just enough so I don't have hours of it to deal with.

I'd want to spot and maybe take a picture of this year, it would be Joan Benoit Samuelson.

Since you are planning on seeing the current elite women (Joan is now 52), it should be easy to spot Paula Radcliffe (world record holder who tends to win anywhere but the Olympics (you may remember the picture of her sitting on a curb in Athens or in tears in Bejing). Sadly, her accomplishments are downplayed because of her Olympic marathon record.

American legend Bill Rogers will only run a ceremonial last six miles of the race. I ran in a race with Bill Rogers once. I even saw him once during the race (and it wasn't anywhere near the finish line as he had probably showered, changed, eaten, and probably already taken a nap when I arrived)

I would have needed to bust out there right after the race start because of the timing dif with the womens start. It would have required removing the Dot from my lap also ;) Elite men have passed through. The masses will be flowing in soon .. . mid afternoon before you can cross the route here iirc. I'm at the 11.5 mile point.

Paula is getting good PR on the broadcast I'm watching. They don't seem to be holding the Olympics as the "test". Looks like BR will be entering the race right before they re-enter Manhattan up in Harlem. I don't think I could ever finish a race, especially this one. I'd prob trot right on down the street to my apt! Kudos to you!

the pot of tea accompanying my continental breakfast in a Brit. hotel on the right bank. First came the elite men from Africa. Then kids would jump into the street to retrieve abandoned warm-up jackets. Then the elite women. Then trucks to p/u the abandoned gear. Then the hordes of runners. Quite interesting to watch. Those guys and gals in the elite groups are amazing to watch.

Well, first off, JaMarcus Russell has got to be one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL. He is just terrible. Can throw the ball a mile but doesn't throw it to anyone.

Except on the opening drive, he threw it to Charger's corner Cromartie, who intercepted, setting up a LaDamien Tomlinson rushing touchdown from the wildcat formation.

The rest of the half was almost entirely Philip Rivers (el esta en fuego!) to wide receiver Vincent Jackson. Chargers are up 21 to 10 (Oakland got a touchdown as a result of a turnover -- Rivers to the aforementioned Jackson, who bobbled the ball, so technically an interception but really it was Jackson's error).

Second half the Chargers got off to a crappy start, now the Raiders have it and are driving down the field. Russell actually completed a pass. A miracle!

It's getting clear Joe Lieberman will be another one that bites the dust. He is currently chairs the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, the subcommittee on Private Sector and Consumer Solutions to Global Warming and Wildlife Protection, and the Subcommittee on Air Land Forces.

The important thing that was flushed out in all of this political stuff is the incredible duality or integregrity as Lieberman parades around as a Democrat for votes to win knowing he can not win as a Republican but actually is one Republican likely a Republican a lot longer than many thought or would reveal. Especially mainstream media. I am such a rookie in this political stuff.

Take a hard look at how Lieberman is what he is doing and the positions. His deeds have likely been a long "counter product" core problem using his chairmanship to manipulate rather than serve. Profiteering at every chance rather than governing serving a commitment. The ideals of values that Hillary Clinton ring in those days is now in our face.

It is so sickening and obvious Lieberman likely has as many Senators serve themselves all the while delivering cockeyed rhetoric from home land security to Middle East policy. For me, I just wonder how dirty his money is in his decisions in the Middle East. Wouldn't it be ironic if Joe Lieberman is responsible for some Middle East military horrors that occurred by Chairing a subcommittee on Air and Land?

Perhaps Lieberman need a through investigation before he is booted. At least Leiberman need national shame for as long as it takes to see what he has done for his country.

I'm also cleaning and organizing...just finished the cabinet with the spices and stuff. It is now organized with one shelf for savory and one for sweet, so I don't have to bother looking for the rosemary and thyme in among the ginger and cinnamon. Threw out the stuff at the back of the top shelf that I had forgotten I even had - haven't used it, so must not need it, right?

Our younger daughter and her significant other/soon-to-be-fiance/boyfriend, moved in with us a month ago; they're trying to save money, and paying rent is like throwing it away. Trying to make room for a lot of their stuff - fortunately, some of it is being stored at boyfriend's uncle's house, and some of the furniture is being loaned to his brother who just bought a house and has some empty rooms to fill - and still trying to find spots for all the stuff from my aunt's house that is still in boxes. Argh.

Spent part of yesterday hauling everything out of an upstairs closet and purging to make room for other stuff. Bought some new storage bins for the wrapping paper that must breed in the dark of the closet - now we have one bin for birthday/all occasion, one for Christmas, and one for tissue and ribbon and tags and gift bags.

It's kind of a case of "musical stuff," as when you move this to make room for that, and then have to move the other thing to make room for something else, eventually, something loses out, and off to the dump it goes.

Strangely satisfying to do this, but husband is in fierce-protective-don't-touch-my-stuff! mode, so that's a complication. Will have to de-junkify him the way I used to get rid of toys and such the kids weren't playing with anymore: do it when he isn't around, and he'll never know it's gone. Is that cruel? I hope not, but if he hasn't needed it in 10 years, doesn't even know he has it, it doesn't have family history attached to it, what's the point of keeping it?

except no son-in-law, just babies moved in with their mom :) I did a purge for half of her stuff, but there was some that remained in Virginia that I went and got when Josh and I had to go to Bragg. I threw it all in the spare room. I went and looked at it yesterday just to absorb that more purging and sorting was going to be happening. And I need a spice purge something fierce. I can bake. Thank God for baking and exact measures and exact times. I can do it but I usually only do it during the holidays and then the spices I bought get old. And then there are the times when I buy other spices thinking that a good spice could improve my other lacking cooking skills :) Those tend to get old too if they didn't to the trick.

Critters are so much easier to make room for {grin}

Especially the TeaBagParty part. Take our race for Governor--I can definately see Josh "Please for the love of God, don't make me have to get a job out in the real World" Penry running as the TBP candidate.
But, that would leave McLobbyist as the Centrist and Ritter as the "Liberal" Democrat? That part just doesn't add up. You could have a run-off between those two, I suppose, but I don't know who would run as the liberal.
Go Bronco's! Guess we're back to the regular uni's this week. Too bad, I'm probably one of the few who liked those throw-back socks.

and 5 of those in the last few weeks. It has gotten bad. Students hospitalized -- now including one who had an organ transplant last year, but was told she was not "high risk" enough to get the dribbles of vaccine available so far here. Thousands have been turned away from clinics as vaccinations ran out, many other clinics cancelled now -- including one on my campus that was to occur this week. So the numbers of ill will soar more.

I think that the Gitmo vaccinations are unwise.
