New Jersey Legalizes Online Gambling

Gov. Chris Christie has signed a bill allowing online gambling in New Jersey. Nevada and Delaware are doing the same.

The federal government changed its position in 2011 to allow some online gaming within states where gambling is legal, but it is unknown whether the federal government will move to broaden the market.

The feds need to do the same for marijuana. AG Eric Holder says he is getting ready to make a decision on how DOJ will respond to recently passed laws in Colorado and Washington.

prescription pain medication, I am even more in favor of legalizing marijuana. No way all this other poison should be legal, and not pot. just ridiculous.

    How about this then... (5.00 / 1) (#4)

Since I'm going for the popular Mediterranean diet but can't possibly consume one liter of olive oil in a week I have an alternative plan.  Grow marijuana in five gallon buckets in an olive grove and let the bees cross pollinate so we have medical olive oil pot.  Who's in?

    It's only 1/2 liter a week :) (none / 0) (#5)

Made a joke about MM when discussing my cancer treatment a couple of years ago. This poorly timed joke resulted in me being grilled by the oncologist about whether or not I had a drug habit. Several times repeating "It was a joke, doc." didn't seem to get through real fast. I was told later by someone who works in oncology that the doctors are required to follow up on things like this.

Kinda funny in hindsight since my drug of choice is usually restricted to ibuprofen and after trying it never personally had any desire to smoke pot.

I hope "follow up" doesn't include law enforcement.

When I've been to the emergency room, I was never quite sure how to answer "are you on any drugs?" question.  On the off chance my reefer use was relevant, I answered honestly that I smoke reefer regularly, and the admitting doctor said "oh that doesn't count" and we chuckled;)

Regarding prescriptions, it's only available in my state without one.  Unless sarc is talking about that half-arse less effective Marinol bullsh*t.

A monkey is sitting in a tree by a river smoking a joint.

A lizard sees him, climbs up and asks to share the joint. They smoke and get high together.

While still high, the lizard climbs down from the tree and gets a drink of water from the river.

He falls into the river and is carried downstream.

As he climbs out of the river, the lizard meets an alligator and tells him about the monkey smoking pot in the tree up river.

The alligator swims to the tree. The monkey looks down and yells,

"YO DUDE, HOW MUCH WATER DID YOU DRINK ANYWAY?"

law enforcement. Should have been clearer in my comment. He did take my joke a little bit more seriously than I thought it warranted.

The follow up on my joke just involved my oncologist asking numerous questions about my drug usage and the expression of concern (disapproval) during that particular visit. That was the type of follow up I meant. I doubt that he could have gotten the police involved due to the doctor/patient confidentiality issue.

    I sure hope confidentiality... (none / 0) (#13)

still applies...ya never know these days.

There is no confidentiality when ya go to the ER with a gunshot wound, it's not much of a leap to see doctors become narcs.

Maybe they should get rid of those other mandatory reporting things like: births, deaths, suspected child and elder abuse, industrial accidents, as well as certain poisonings, and communicable diseases.

Probably not, I have no idea. (none / 0) (#10)

If other drugs are available by prescription, that would be logical support for MJ also being available by prescription.

they will police/enforce that the players reside in or are currently visiting NJ? IP Addresses? Can Anonymous be of assistance to NYers here? ;)

AC definitely needs the action...the new slots only casinos at Yonkers Raceway and Aqueduct, as well as The Foxwoods & Mohegan Sun options in CT, have put a serious hurting on their former monopoly on the tri-state's action.

what's with that big new AC casino going broke business? I know none of the houses are doing great, but the dump the new one is taking is one for the record books.

Do you think their "no Smoking" policy had anything to do with it? How many times have we  heard Non-Smokers say there's something about a casino that sort of requires wafts of smoke billowing around. You know that....I'm not making it up.

I was in AC a couple weeks ago...in the pits the smoking tables are three deep and the non-smoking tables had plenty of seats available.  I had no desire to check out the new joint...Borgata has the poker action on lock so that's where I go.

A casino going full on non-smoking is just dumb...know thy customers!

You know, I don't fly a lot any more, but a little while ago a flight I was on had a stop-over in Cincy. So, to kill an hour I strolled around looking for the bar. I look around, and holy shitt, there's a huge mob piled around a little store, or something.

Yup, You guessed it, it was a bar.....the only place you could catch a smoke in the whole dam place.

    lol
