El Chapo: Post-Escape Photos on Airplane

Blog de Narco has received three photograghs purporting to show Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman-Loera after his escape from Altiplano prison in Almaloya de Juarez. While it cannot verify the photos, it did use software that established they were not edited or photo-shopped.

(It sure looks like a new shirt. There were bags of new clothes found at the half-built house with the tunnel.)

How did he get to a plane? Apparently, from the house where the tunnel extended to, he would have taken a dirt road to the Toluca Beltway, route 7d. From there, he would have either gone towards Zitacuaro, in Western Michoacan State,or in the other direction towards Valle de Bravo, in the State of Mexico.

Minutes later, the Chapo came out at full speed in a car heading to the Beltway of Toluca, 7d, which leads to Zitacuaro, Michoacán, or Valle de Bravo, in the State of Mexico, and from there towards the area of Luvianos in Guerrero.

Respected cartel journalist and author Anabel Hernandez isn't buying the story he escaped through the tunnel under his shower.

So where did he fly to? According to Telesur, an associate says he's already home in Culiacan, reunited with his wife and kids. Where is home? In Sinaloa, in the mountainous region "that begins in Jesus Maria, about 50 minutes north of Culiacan, and all the way up to Badiraguato and Santiago de los Caballeros."

    El Chapo taunts Trump (5.00 / 1) (#1)

believed to be used by one of his sons, it wasn't El Chapo.

Trump has his own threads, let's not change the topic from the escape.

I will not say anything more about it (none / 0) (#6)

except that the article linked to speculated, along with some locals, that El Chapo himself not his son was personally tweeting the Trump insults.  There were also insults directed at the Mexican prez and a hint a month ago that El Chapo's son knew of the escape in advance.

"Local media have now began questioning how no-one saw 3,250 tonnes of earth that was removed to construct a tunnel a mile long, 80 centimetres wide, and 1.7 metres tall. 2,652 cubic metres of earth would have to be removed, enough to fill 379 dump trucks.

The prison staff are equipped with radar and electronic depth testing equipment which they are required to use regularly specifically in order to check for things like tunnels but nothing was ever reported."

Hard to not think El Chapo had significant help from prison officials in his escape..

So he walked out the front door, then? (none / 0) (#2)

Skimmed the linked article in Spanish and the journalist has a point - if El Chapo was watched 24 hours a day with video cameras, plus he had a special dedicated guard watching over him, it seems unlikely that he escaped via the tunnel. Well, you know what they say - money walks.

And in completely unrelated news, President Obama today commuted the sentences of 46 non-violent drug offenders...looking forward to the day when someday we end this madness known as 'the war on drugs'.

    46 commutations, feh! (5.00 / 1) (#7)

Should be 4600 commutations, plus 1500 pardons. I sure hope there are a lot more to come soon.

    No, that's certainly not true. (5.00 / 1) (#9)

Neither in word nor in deed.  His actions are insufficient, so far, to satisfy me relative to either his rhetoric or my principles, but he is by no means "essentially a [right-]winger" on criminal justice generally or on commutation policy in particular.

    I'll do a new thread on that topic (none / 0) (#5)

Here's video showing Altiplano guards running around like chickens with their heads cut off after somebody noticed his escape.

I've no idea why the caption is reversed.  It says Video provided by the Attorney General (Procuraduría General de la República)
