Some new details on the Scooter Libby jury deliberation process:

The jurors wore jeans today. Certainly a sign they knew they weren't going to finish today...otherwise they would have dressed up.

Ted Wells is buying courtroom sketches of himself from the sketch artists. His advice: "Always buy your sketches before the verdict."

Libby's wife, lawyer Harriet Grant and Libby attorney Bill Jeffress hit the park across from the courthouse during the wait to grab a smoke.

Both sides have waiting rooms in the courthouse. The Government's is bigger.

Patrick Fitzgerald drove 15 hours from Chicago to be in court yesterday due to planes being grounded in Chicago. I'm not sure I'm buying that one. He may have driven to a city en route to D.C. and flown from there, but why bother to go home on Friday night if you have to drive back on Sunday morning?

One lawyer on the defense team "gave birth" last week. I can't figure out who that is because none of the Libby lawyers or associates I saw were pregnant. Of course, one of the male lawyers' wives or partners may have given birth, but that would be giving the man way too much credit in my opinion.

By the way, after all the arguments over special verdict forms requiring the jurors to specify which of Libby's statements were false, the actual verdict form, which I received from the DOJ spokesperson Randall Samborn, is suprisingly simple.

I'm working on getting ahold of the final jury instructions. They aren't on Pacer. If anyone else has received a copy and can send them to me, I'd be much obliged.

Any guesses on the jury question tomorrow morning? After this many days, is it usually related to an instruction? Or could they be requesting to see evidence that they couldn't take with them to the jury room?

Teresa, I can't guess. It could be one of the scenarios you pose, or something completely off the wall. I think it's too early to indicate a hung jury, but it may be that we get a clue from the question.

If it was an easily answered question, I would think they would have addressed it this afternoon. By scheduling it for tomorrow, it may be that it was one that the Court anticipated both sides would want to consider overnight and argue how to respond in the morning.

view tomorrow after we know the question. I expect a verdict tomorrow afternoon because I'll be away from all communication and that is my luck. If you get a chance in the morning, please let us know your feelings after the question is known.

apparently, both the prosecution
and the defense have submitted
proposed responses to the jury
question for the consideration
of judge walton. this smells
very much like a technical question,
i.m.h.o. especially given that judge walton
has now sent a note back to the
jurors, just to make sure he under-
stands what is being asked.

i'd doubt that this is any
sort of a blockbuster. . .

and now, per the various live-
blog feeds, it will be another
half-hour before we hear anything.

the jury's return note to walton reads thus:

". . .we are clear on what we need to do. . ."

[emphasis supplied.]

i do like the ring of it, though. . .
