Friday Night Open Thread: Hurricane Sandy Concert

I got home just in time for the repeat of NBC's Hurricane Sandy concert. Can't wait to see Bon Jovi.

Matt Lauer hosts a star-studded Red Cross telethon to benefit Hurricane Sandy victims, featuring Christina Aguilera, Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Whoopi Goldberg, Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart and more!

It's sad that the sound crew (none / 0) (#1)

screwed up a bit with dead mics at the start (and intermittently) on "Under the Boardwalk," and the camera crew goes a bit screwy during it, too -- but, still, be sure to watch for Jimmy Fallon, Billy Joel, Steven Tyler, the Boss, et al. on this iconic rock 'n' roll ode to the Jersey shore.

And there are more numbers making it well worth watching -- but be prepared for the disconcerting sound of the applause from the audience.  I think that they must have only a few dozen family members or something who managed to figure out how to get there (or lived within walking distance?).

Steven Tyler was also good and Bruce put his heart into "This Train". Bon Jovi was in London and flew back to do the concert.

Who was the guy in the back sharing a mike with Bruce on Under the Boardwalk?

Gov. Christie just put gas rationing in effect in many New Jersey countines. And New York City finally canceled the marathon.

was on the mic with Springsteen, I read.

That the guy (Marc Rivera?) was playing the triangle and had the build for it made me think that I was seeing a better-looking Will Ferrell.

The gas-rationing calendar is overdue.  Seeing the photos and videos took me back to the Mideast oil crisis of the mid-'70s, and people became vicious and physical then -- as looked likely next in New York.  The rationing will bring its own problems, but from my memory of this being done decades ago, it may defuse tempers and allow stressed people to get sleep rather than wait in line overnight.

When the complete intricate and interconnected system of mass transit, all parts, can be back up and running looks at least weeks away.  What a mess.

How about Bruce and Bob, Springsteen and Dylan?

Both are in Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday -- the Boss with Obama, and the Bob on his tour.  Hmmmm.

I don't know what MD20/20 is, but I'm pretty sure a lot of x@n@x prescriptions have just been refilled.

Its usual, but not only, habitat is on the shelves of convenience stores located in the skid row area of towns and cities.

some of the guys I knew who worked there made some highly potent liquid that would make Mad Dog seem tame and tasty.  It was like very inferior retsina time 100.
